About VBFH

Virginia Beach Fallen Heroes (VBFH) is a group of volunteers and local businesses from the Virginia Beach, VA community. VBFH members have come together over the last seven years to dedicate their time and efforts to raise money for the families of our fallen Naval Special Warfare Operators (SEAL) Special Boat Operators, and support personnel.

On August 6, 2011, an elite team of SEALs, Army Special Operations aviator and a service dog were aboard a Chinook helicopter – call sign Extortion 17 – was shot down in Afghanistan while on a mission to rescue U.S. troops pinned down in combat. All 38 men aboard and the dog were killed.

This tragedy rocked the local Naval Special Warfare community prompting the formation of a volunteer group to raise money for immediate family support (the original VBFH crew). In just FIVE weeks VBFH put on its first event & ended up with $60,000 in donations to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. The VBFH never looked back.

VBFH has teamed up with the National Navy UDT/SEAL Museum, the UDT/SEAL Association, the Navy SEAL Foundation, and Spike’s K-9 Fund. So far, the VBFH has raised over $500,000 to assist local military families, whose sacrifices sometimes come at the cost of the service member’s life. This is a small way to honour those sacrifices by contributing to their families’ immediate needs and wellbeing.

VBFH has its 501(c)3 status and 100% of NET proceeds from our spring Charity Golf tournament and “FREEDOMFEST” held every September go directly to our charities.
